Personal Outdoor Meditation Space
The details
Timeline: 4 weeks
Techniques used: MIG welder, Ironworker
Materials: 1/4” steel pencil rod, transfer paper, watercolor
Course: Metal Sculpture, F/W 2018
This sculpture explores the space between exteriority and interiority, and was inspired by turtles, beehives, James Turrell, and stained glass church windows.
When a user looks out from the interior of the sculpture through the carefully placed holes, the environment above is framed within the sculpture. The peaceful experience of viewing the sky through the sculpture inspired my peers to call it a “meditation pod” during my final critique.
